I've been a member for about a year and I'm very happy I joined MKG CrossFit in Shoreline. The workouts are challenging but in a good way, and the programming keeps things interesting with a variety of workouts. The gym is well equipped with everything you need for effective training. Coaches Tammy, Scott, and Mary are great at helping you with improving form and offering scaling options. The overall atmosphere is welcoming and fun, and the friendly competition pushes you to give it your best effort. Being able to easily track progress over time is also a great motivator. Overall, I highly recommend it.

I have been training here for almost a month now and am loving the atmosphere and vibe of the gym. Everyone is friendly and encouraging of one another. If you’re new to CrossFit or coming back after a long break, this is the place to be! Coach Scott breaks down the specific lift for the WOD step by step to ensure correct form before adding weight. They will also modify workouts to accommodate restrictions/prior injuries. I’ve been looking for a new home gym closer to work for a while now, and am so glad I found this gem! If you’re on the fence about trying a new gym, take the leap and come check MKG out! You won’t regret it!

I’ve been a member here for almost 4 years and it’s been such an amazing experience. The coaches are personable and extremely knowledgeable. The members makeup a community that I look forward to seeing every day and some have honestly become some of my really good friends (coaches too), and the programming is fun and creative. The staff is great about scaling workouts if you need it, or pushing you to your limit for growth. If you’re looking for a fun place to meet new people and get a good workout, this is it.

I came to CrossFit after having “tried it all”. I played sports growing up and the need to be active continued into adulthood. I’ve played on adult women’s and co-ed basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball teams. I’ve also taken about any class that’s been offered, from trapeze to hot yoga to boxing to zumba.

When I decided to try CrossFit in 2010, I found my home. I have never once gotten bored or felt the urge to move on. In fact, I feel more invigorated and dedicated to the sport than ever! The constant variety and ability to see real progress towards personal goals motivates me every day.

I recently decided to become a coach and am so happy to share my love of CrossFit with members of all ages and fitness levels.

At the age of 39, I was a husband, father of two young boys and working a full-time management position. It was noticeable the past few years of failing to prioritize exercise took their toll. This was very difficult for me both mentally and physically, as I was always active in sports. I wanted to get in the best shape of my life by age 40, but had no idea how. Then my wife suggested I should try CrossFit.

I joined a local affiliate soon thereafter and it has been a passion of mine ever since. It was amazing how the CrossFit workout methodology yielded the physical results I was looking for. What I didn’t expect was how motivating mentally it would be. To walk out of class each day with a sense of accomplishment provided my soul such an uplift.

The best part was being able to share it with multiple people. The positive community vibe you get to experience is unlike anything else. I recently became a coach to make a difference in people’s lives. I want to see other individuals achieve their fitness goals and experience the other positive benefits.

I didn’t really jump into fitness until my early 20s. Like a lot of college students, I gained the freshman “40” and decided I needed to make a change. I started running, which eventually turned into training for half and full marathons. From there, I discovered Martial Arts and immediately fell in love. In my 30s, I competed in amateur kickboxing and USA Boxing. A friend suggested CrossFit in 2008 to help with conditioning—and I was hooked from day one.

 

I’ve always believed movement should be fun, challenging, and a little adventurous. I still cross-train through martial arts, adventure races, and local CrossFit competitions. Today, I’m the co-owner of MKG Martial Arts & Fitness and the owner of MKG Fitness (formerly CrossFit @ MKG). I’ve been coaching for over 20 years—everything from group fitness, boxing, TRX, bootcamp, and Muay Thai to self-defense, CrossFit, and training competitive fighters. Helping people transform their lives never gets old.
