Workouts

At MKG Fitness we understand everyone has different fitness goals and abilities. This is why we have designed three different tiers within every class/workout that allow members to determine what’s appropriate for them at each stage of their athletic development. Each tier has different weight loads and movements to preserve the intended stimulus to accommodate potential limitations of experience level, range of motion or injury.

Px

Performance

The weight loads and movements are designed for athletes who enjoy competing in local competitions, on-line events such as ‘the games’ and aggressively advancing in the movements.

Fx

Fitness

The weight loads and movements are designed for athletes that have developed proficiency in the different lifts and movements.

Lx

Lifestyle

The weight loads and movements are designed for athletes that are just starting out or have mobility issues which prevent them from executing movements properly/safely.
We then use SugarWOD app as a way to track your progress in class. This app is free to all our members. Every time you come in, you record weights you use for lifts and how/if you scale a workout. Coaches can then help athletes determine what level works for them regardless if they are a beginner or advanced.

Why use SugarWOD?

At MKG, we emphasize a supportive community, measuring progress, and celebrating success all of which starts with a supportive coach to athlete relationship. We believe our commitment to these values has helped us create a world-class environment for our athletes. To support these values, we chose the SugarWOD workout app. It’s a fun, social way to track your WODs and from day one you get to enjoy the unique community at MKG.

Using it is totally optional (you can keep your account private), but on any given day most of our athletes are using SugarWOD!

You may be asking yourself, Why should I track my workouts? If you are newer it will help you (if you log your lifts) remember all the lifts. Snatch, clean and jerk, push press, back squats, front squats etc. In the beginning all of the lifts can kinda jumble together and it’s hard to remember them. But if we do heavy jerks one day and you log what you lifted, next time they come up you can look up in SugarWOD what you did last time. So that you can know what you are capable of last time and maybe try for a little more this time.

Keeping track of your scores and weights will help you SEE your progress. Over time once you’ve been coming for a while you will see how your lifts and times have improved. You can also grab your score off the board or from the coach before you leave so you can log your scores.

One cool thing about SugarWOD is that you can put in your own workouts. If you go run a 5k for fun over the weekend you can put that in. Or if you make up a WOD at open gym you can enter that in there as well. Another great feature of SugarWOD is that you can put in scaling notes. This is part of seeing your progress. Say we have a workout with pull ups and you use 3 bands you put that in your notes. Then over the next couple of months you can log when you only use two bands or just one.
